After over a year and half of work and development between NALS Certification/Education Manager, Maria Easterly, and the NALS National Certifying Board, the Accredited Legal Professional (ALP) exam is now online!
The ALP Exam is hosted online through a reputable online assessment provider, PSI Services LLC.
PSI Services LLC is one of the largest assessment providers in the world. They work in over 160 countries and deliver millions of exams and assessments annually. Every day, tens of thousands of candidates, irrespective of their language or location, use their trusted technology to complete their exams and be assessed or certified.
Our online exam system will provide the following benefits to our members, education partners, and students:
24/7 Access and Convenience – No more waiting for an exam period to roll around! Once the examinee is ready, they will apply online and if approved, they can sit and take the exam!
Immediate Results – No more waiting for results to be released! Each examinee will be awarded their designation once the results are verified by respective parties.
Online Proctoring – No more need for organizing an exam proctor in your area or driving long distances for the exam! For a small additional fee, each examinee can take the exam online anytime, day or night. The $45 fee covers all three sections at 75 minutes each.
Here is the application process for the ALP online exam:
Visit NALS.org/ExamsOnline to apply.
Once the NALS Certification/Education Manager receives your ALP exam application, she will review it and make sure you meet the necessary qualifications. The current provisions regarding first-time ALP examinees remain intact; you must sit for the entire exam at the same time [Parts 1, 2, and 3]. If you fail any part of the exam, you may register to retake said portion online. And in a similar fashion to our current practice, you need only register to sit for the failed sections of the exam.
If your application is approved by the NALS Certification/Education Manager, you will receive an email with instructions on how to proceed to the online ALP exam. These instructions will include login information for the online exam portal and detailed instructions on how to access the online exam. This email will also include the number of days you have to sit for the exam. You may sit for the exam at any time in that window, day or night. Once you decide when to sit for the online exam, you will need:
a reliable internet connection;
a quiet room, free of distractions; and
a webcam, most computers have these built in.
Once an examinee is finished taking their online exam, he/she will receive results immediately. Exam results will be verified by the NALS Certification/Education Manager and NALS National Certifying Board upon receipt of same. Once verified, the examinees’ NALS account will be updated and a certificate will be awarded to the examinee.
NALS Board of Directors would like to say, ‘Thank You!’ to the following: NALS National Certifying Board for working tirelessly to review and create the online exams.
